Upon Scobble. Epig.

    By Robert Herrick

Scobble for whoredom whips his wife; and cries
He'll slit her nose; but blubb'ring, she replies,
Good sir, make no more cuts i' th' outward skin,
One slit's enough to let adultry in.

Extra Info:
Upon Scobble. Dr. Grosart quotes an Ellis Scobble [i.e., Scobell], baptised at Dean Priory in 1632, and Jeffery Scobble buried in 1654.
